STDs stands for Sexually Transmitted Diseases. As the name suggests, these types of diseases are spread when one person has sexual intercourse with an infected person. Some of them are curable and others are not. There are many of these diseases with the most widely known being AIDS which is incurable, gonorrhea, syphilis, genital warts, genital herpes and many others. It is important to note that STDs can be contracted even after having sex once and if you do not treat it, you are putting yourself at a risk of sterility, some cancers, brain damage, premature birth of your child if pregnancy ensues, cardiovascular diseases and several other opportunistic diseases.
Another point to note is that, if you fail to get treatment for an STD, you are putting yourself or your partner at the danger of some cancers, brain damage, heart diseases, sterility, blindness of the unborn child, or premature birth incase of a pregnancy. The spread of STDs is made possible through the coming into contact with vaginal secretions, blood and semen or the broken skin, mucous or mouth sores of an infected partner. From that information, it is evident that it is very easy to get the STDs from anal sex which is especially known for bleeding, you can get it from oral and vaginal sex too if you fail to practice proper latex condom use. There are other ways where you can get the STDs without having se and this are sharing of needles for drug users, sharing needles during tattooing, and using the same needle as an infected person during ear piercing. It is however not possible to get a sexually transmitted disease from merely sitting next to an infected person, using the same swimming pool or sitting on the same toilet seat. You should both agree on having a mutually monogamous relationship. Your partner should be able to trust that you are not having sex with any other person and therefore, there is no chance that either of you will bring a sexually transmitted disease into the relationship. The final option is to use a CONDOM. If you unfortunately find yourself in this situation, there is no need to get your partner or yourself infected. Use a latex rubber condom. These are the ABCs of avoiding STDs.Common knowledge should tell you that if you engage in drugs and alcohol, your mind has no control of what happens to your body. Do not engage in such substances before having sex. Say a loud NO and make your limits and wishes loud and clear and you will be safe from these diseases. For effective abstinence till marriage materials visit ampartnership.org, the leader in abstinence only curriculum.
