A majority of the religious beliefs in the world are of the strong suggestion that sex should only be done by a legally married couple. Sometimes they tend to assume that they are destined to be as one for the rest of their lives. The relationship may last two or three years and here, the teens start reasoning that, if they have been together for three years, then they can manage being together for the rest of their lives. At some point, the shallow relationship comes to a natural death but still, they will have to stay put in those relationships in order to save face.

A good number of teens are practicing abstinence. Being a virgin is actually something teens respect and with proper guidance from parents, with clear directions on how to remain chaste, teens are actually willing to practice abstinence. All communication lines should be open and even if the teen has already had sex, the parent's main focus should be to persuade this teen to remain chaste.

American parents should not give up into thinking that teens will have sex anyway. That is not true. A teen requires proper guidance to know the dangers of premarital sex. Teen abstinence will teach him or her to have self control and endurance in future. They will learn to pick their friends well and notice evil intentions in a future life or business partner.
